URGENT 

How do you Get involved? 

1. Decide what you want to accomplish and how you want to accomplish it. Pick a topic or activity you want to put your energy behind. Do you like protesting? Are you passionate about education or women's rights? Do you like making phone calls? Are you introverted and have too much anxiety and need something a little more behind the scenes? Are you creative and think outside the box or prefer to follow the rules to the letter?

2. Be informed. We are trying not to overwhelm you with emails because we know firsthand how easy that is. We do recommend that you try to stay up to date. When you need a break, take one. Join us for regular Zoom chats. We will begin our Zoom calls to help decompress from the outrageous news of the week and chat about the wins we see regularly.

3. If you are truly the behind-the-scenes type of person, we need help staying on top of all of the day-to-day organizing. We want to stay in touch with other local groups. We need people to organize data, write emails, make flyers, and help research information that we share. Can you host a Zoom or in-person session on using technology? We need new ideas. Are you a creative thinker? We could use your help on some of our committees to help take the burden off of others. If you are not sure how to help, just join one of our meetings and listen a time or two. You might help inspire a new idea that we need to help raise more awareness.

Their goal is to overwhelm us with information, and it works if there are not enough people to sift through all of the noise. With your help, we can become more effective.

Despite how you see yourself there is a role for you. Our overall goal will be to be seen and heard this year starting now. 

Make that Call

If you are feeling a little anxious about making phone calls, we have the perfect app for you. This app will show you a list of current concerns that are trending to call your congressional representatives about. It will tell you the important points and even provide a suggested script of what to say.

5 Calls https://5calls.org/ can be downloaded on your mobile phone and can also be used online. If you have the app on your phone, you can make calls directly with a simple click. If you prefer to use a landline phone or have the script loaded on your computer, you can do that too. This app is available for both iPhones and Android-based phones.

Send that Email

Too anxious to call or just don't have a quiet moment? We have another option for you. Try Resistbot visit their website https://resist.bot/ and follow their directions.  If you are interested in seeing what petitions are trending just visit https://resist.bot/petitions You can send emails from your computer or your phone. If you have an iPhone, they will have a phone app for you to use. If you do not have an iPhone, you can still use this resource, but the steps are a bit more complicated than the other app we suggested for you. We are happy to help you get started and can host a one-on-one session with folks who want a little help. This resource will also provide prewritten messages and will allow you to send emails to all of your representatives at once. It will also allow you to send emails to your state-level representatives. Send that Fax

Do you want to make an extra statement? Resistbot will also allow you to send a fax at a small charge however Fax Zero https://faxzero.com/ will allow you to send 5 faxes each day for free. Why bother to send a fax? It is considered printed communication and is placed into the Congressional record. 

Now let's be seen

A number of different organizations are becoming vocal and busy. There are protests happening all over Ohio a couple of times a week. Many of them take place at the Statehouse in Columbus. People gather to protest legislation and support communities in need. Ongoing protests are also happening at Tesla dealerships in major cities in Ohio. Indivisible groups have been very active in both nearby locations in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio. If you prefer to focus your energy on educational matters, there are also ongoing protests at Ohio State campus. Reddit group 50501 has also started protesting in fairly large numbers. Ohio Progressive Action Leaders is another organization that is organizing events regularly. Visit their Mobilize webpage to view upcoming activity.

Why Are We Losing?

Removing checks and balances allows for corruption. Ohio HB 6 allowed several Statehouse Representatives to enforce an unpopular tax on Ohioans. After a federal investigation, a sitting Statehouse member was arrested, tried, and convicted.

Using the data from the Cambridge Analytica/Facebook breach, they created an estimated half a billion voter profiles. They used scientific studies to create a campaign of psychological warfare. They studied Facebook users' every click and the results of the fun little personality tests your friends  might have sent to you. This information was transformed with new technology, then it was sold to far-right organizations across the globe. This is where Steve Bannon became involved. We feel like it is so important to counteract their strategy with truth and integrity. Our approach is to help you do your research. We want to give you easy tools to help you sift through the nonsense that they are putting out into the media. We believe this information will empower you to be more proactive and feel less overwhelmed. Please check back often.
