Senator Brown:

●    Was instrumental in crafting the American Rescue Plan Act, the CHIPS Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Infrastructure Investment Jobs Act. These led to good-paying Ohio jobs in the Intel plant, the EV Battery plant, and more.

●    Sponsored the Restoring Overtime Pay Act, which expanded overtime pay for working- and middle-class workers.

●    Co-sponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act.

●    Co-sponsored the EACH Act to reverse the Hyde Amendment and other abortion coverage restrictions.

Supporting REPRODUCTIVE AND WOMEN’S HEALTH 

● Sherrod co-sponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act, as well as the EACH Act to reverse the Hyde Amendment and other abortion restrictions.

● Sherrod has worked with fellow US Senate Democrats to protect access to contraception, IVF, and abortion. Republicans reject these protections.

● Sherrod is endorsed by Planned Parenthood & Reproductive Freedom for All.

Preserving DEMOCRACY 

● Sherrod urged Senate passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, highlighting voter suppression tactics in Ohio and elsewhere. He continues to make voting rights a priority.

Standing with UNIONS

● Sherrod was key in crafting the Infrastructure Act, CHIPS Act, and Inflation Reduction Act with the goal of bringing manufacturing jobs supported by strong unions back to the USA. 

● Sherrod’s Butch Lewis Act saved the pensions of more than 100,000 Ohioans, including 529 NE Ohio workers and retirees in the Teamsters Local 73.

● Nine major unions endorse Sherrod’s reelection to the US Senate.

Protecting SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE

● Sherrod opposes Republican efforts to raise the Social Security retirement age. Instead he proposes that wealthy taxpayers pay their share of taxes so benefits can be maintained and enhanced. He fights to protect Medicare.

Helping CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

● Sherrod supports Democratic pro-family policies that give Americans the freedom to make personal choices for their families. He works to expand rural childcare, ensure child nutrition, and prevent child labor. 

Lowering HEALTHCARE COSTS 

● Sherrod supports the Affordable Care Act. His opponent, Bernie Moreno, has said that he will dismantle the ACA and take healthcare away from millions.

● Sherrod is fighting to protect Medicare, lower prescription drug costs, expand the out of pocket insulin cap for all Ohioans, and ensure that all children have access to healthcare. 

Easing STUDENT DEBT 

● Sherrod has supported the Biden Administration’s cancellation of loans, assistance with loan forgiveness, and the increase in the maximum value of Pell Grants. He is co-sponsor of the America’s College Promise Act that would make two years of community college tuition free. 

Ensuring LGBTQ+ RIGHTS 

● Sherrod introduced the first Senate Pride Month Resolution in June 2017. 

● He has announced the creation of LGBTQ+ Ohioans for Sherrod, a coalition chaired by Ohioan Jim Obergefell, whose Supreme Court case legalized gay marriage in the United States.

● Sherrod is endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign Pact.

Reducing GUN VIOLENCE 

● With other Democrats, Sherrod has helped pass the Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun violence prevention legislation in nearly 30 years.

● Sherrod has supported multiple bills for sensible gun control. The Giffords PAC endorses him for reelection.

Expanding VETERANS’ CARE 

● Sherrod led the fight to pass the 2022 PACT Act, which improved healthcare for veterans by expanding access and providing disability benefits for those who were exposed to toxic burn pits during their military service. 

● Sherrod fights for veterans as a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee. With Senator Tester, he introduced the Veterans’ Housing Stability Act.

Addressing the CLIMATE CRISIS

● Sherrod helped write and pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes improvements to domestic clean energy manufacturing, housing, and support for consumers, particularly in communities dependent on the traditional production of energy 

Improving INFRASTRUCTURE

● Sherrod secured transformational investments through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that are reaching communities across Ohio – grants that will go towards making our roads and bridges safer, upgrading essential clean water infrastructure, updating regional airports, and improving power lines to ensure all Ohioans have reliable access to electricity.

Regaining our place in INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

● Sherrod led the passage of a bipartisan bill that reaffirms the US commitment to NATO. He supports Ukraine and building stronger relationships with key global partners. He supports Israel while protesting Gazans’ loss of life and suffering. He supports humanitarian aid, the need for an immediate cease fire, and ultimately a two-state solution.
