Candidate Profile : Dan McGregor

1. Your name as it will appear on the ballot: DAN MCGREGOR

2. The office for which you are running: Ohio State Senate District 10

3. Why you are running for this office:

I care about leaving a quality of life for those behind me better than how I found it. So, I make this promise to all who vote for me and, if elected, to all I represent: Every decision I make as your Ohio State Senator will be evaluated on the following basis: Will it improve the future of younger Ohioans?

4. What makes you the best candidate for this office:

My campaign slogan is "Bring Balance Back to Ohio." I believe I’m the best choice for voters in Senate District 10 who want to prioritize Ohio’s interests over party affiliation. The current Ohio General Assembly is significantly unbalanced due to gerrymandering, with nearly 80% of Senate seats held by Republicans. This supermajority undermines the legislative process, making it difficult for meaningful debate that respects all voters. By electing me, you can send a message that you desire a General Assembly reflecting the diversity of Ohio’s residents. Voting for me, even if you usually support Republicans, doesn’t mean you’re switching parties; it shows you want a functional Ohio State Senate. Together, we can restore balance and foster respectful discussions to improve the lives of all Ohioans.

5. What are your credentials and qualifications for the office you are seeking:

I have a STEM background in physics and engineering, which enables me to analyze complex systems—such as public-school funding—with a focus on identifying their most crucial components. By concentrating on these key areas, I can help achieve significant progress quickly. My work experience spans both the private and public sectors, including corporate R&D, self-employment as an engineering consultant, roles in the residential and commercial mortgage industries, energy and utility issues, and software sales and marketing. This diverse background would be a valuable asset in my role as your state senator.

6. What are the three most important goals you plan to focus on as you campaign and when you are elected:

My top three priorities are: addressing the unconstitutional way our public schools are currently funded, reinstating the renewable energy standards that were reversed by House Bill 6, and updating Ohio’s campaign finance laws to increase transparency in the legislative process.
